There were a number of large tornadoes this day in Kansas. We were caught out of position for most of them waiting for storms to form in Oklahoma. It finally became clear that the cap would hold in Oklahoma and we made a quick trip north into Kansas...making it in time to see this tornado. The storm which produced it looked ready to keep producing tornadoes until it had a bad interaction with outflow from a nearby supercell. We also got to watch a beautiful lightning display after dark before returning home.
