International Space Station

February 4 - The image (trail) of the I.S.S. is seen here moving from WNW to SE across the clear, early evening sky near Okarche.  A small plane is also evident approaching from the south and making a U-turn during the two minute image capture.  It appeared that the plane was making a turn in the face of the I.S.S. - despite it being over a million feet lower!.  Gallery.

Storm Chase 2009 is underway...

February 10 - The first big storm day of the year produced several tornadoes in Oklahoma.  Our first storm chase kept us in the Oklahoma City area.  Gallery

Okarche, March snowfall 2.8 inches

March 12 - Model forecasts the night before picked up on the chance of measurable snowfall in part of central Oklahoma.  In Okarche, we came up with nearly three inches of snow - the most in March since 1995.  I was planning on shooting the blooming red bud trees... but I didn't have any idea that the images would include snow.  Gallery.

Near Full Moon Rising

February 11 - This credit belongs to Bill Wasinger who called and said if I had a view to the east... I had a big orange moon coming up.  My view from the backyard was perfect... and so was the position of the moon to catch several of the crater shadows on the upper part.  Click on image at left for larger version.

Oklahoma Post-Blizzard

March 28 - An intense winter storm produced significant snowfall in Oklahoma from late on the 26th to early on the 28th.  I observed 1.6 inches of snow in Okarche - but up to 25 inches of snow fell in the far northwest part of the state.  Gallery.

Storm Chase 2009 - March/April

March 23, 2009 Storm Chase

Severe thunderstorms formed from north central to southwest Oklahoma during the afternoon.  Several of the storms displayed supercell structure.  The two most impressive storms I observed were near Medford and near Mulhall (picture at left).  Gallery.

Meteors, I.S.S., Conjunction

April 21 and 22 - Several things made sky viewing nice during the early morning hours of the 21st and 22nd.  More information about the events will be listed on the Gallery page soon.

Storm Chase 2009 - May/June
June Success...
The 2009 season won't go down as one of the worst... thanks mostly to a five day stretch of supercell storms from June 11 to June 15.  The tornado at left occurred in Haskell County, Kansas on June 14th.  Many photo gallery updates will be coming during the next few days.
